The Challenge: To document an offsite meeting in a small hotel conference room… but not make it look like a small hotel conference room.

The ask. A fast-growing real estate company came to me with a request: They needed corporate reportage (i.e. candid) images of their employees, who were normally scattered all over the country, working together at a one-day off-site sales team meeting.

The catch. The client didn’t want the images to scream “hotel!” but the location didn’t offer a lot of variety of locations.

The solution. By changing the approach to best downplay the background, I was able to highlight the people by choosing creative angles, blurring the backgrounds, and waiting patiently for the right moment. These, and converting the images into B&W (the client opted for color versions) elevated the images above typical conference photography.
